The Gran Fondo Prosecco celebrated 21 years in 2025 and they have continued with a Gravel Event of circa 70km. So if the road Gran Fondo is not your thing then try the Gravel event, which is on the same day and takes you through the beautiful Prosecco Vineyards.
The Gran Fondo Prosecco was devised in 2003 to not only celebrate the end of season wine harvest and celebrate everything Italian gastronomically, but to also attract a growing number of international cyclists and tourists to this beautiful area. Villa Sandi and Basso Bikes are the primary sponsors. The end of race celebrations in Valdobbiadene’s piazza includes more Prosecco, tables of tasty bites and the evening’s pasta party is a riotous affair, not to be missed.
I have personally ridden this event on 15 occasions – the last being 2024 and enjoyed it every time. The event is run in the region where my family live so I am familiar with the area that’s just one reason to join me in 2025 along with the ride being on my birthday !
Thursday 25h September – Monday 29th September 4 nights. – 4 Star Hotel

The Gran Fondo Prosecco has to be the best end-of-season Italian Gran Fondo in the calendar. If you like Prosecco, you will love this event along with 2,750 other cyclists, on closed roads, racing through the Prosecco vineyards and rolling hills. Imagine this scene. Italian cyclists in their multi-coloured kit and mahogany tanned legs. Music booming, then a cannon cracks the air as green flakes descend from the sky at the start. The crowds cheer and your ears will be assaulted with cleats clicking as you roll out from the start through Valdobbiadene’s classic Italian piazza.
Your sign-on at Villa Sandi’s beautiful winery which includes free food and Prosecco, and your goody bags will include a bottle of Villa Sandi Prosecco Superiore, and jam !
