We are pleased to announce that we are the exclusive UK Tour Operator for Chase The Sun Italia. This event is billed as ‘the most romantic long distance cycle’ event! It remains the same classic concept coast to coast, sunrise to sunset, but with some additional Italian hospitality thrown in. We (European Cycle Events) will deliver our high standard of service to CTS riders whilst you ride. We specialise in Italy due to family contacts and you can see from our web site the locations we travel to thoughout the year to Italy, so you are in the right hands. Our service enables you to just ride your bike! The breathtaking scenery as you climb through the Tuscany hills to the sunset will create indelible memories of your continental Chase the Sun experience!
Chase the Sun is more than a simple bike ride.
It is a long-distance bicycle ride on the longest day of the year. It is NOT competitive. It’s a ride, not a race! It’s a self-sufficient coast-to-coast ride, from Cesenatico to Tirrenia, in full compliance with the rules of the road, from sunrise to sunset. Challenge yourself on a physical, motivational and navigational level. On a long and demanding ride, at your pace, across Italy, from one coast to the other. Start from the Adriatic coast, with the sun rising from the sea behind you and arrive on the Tyrrhenian coast, the sun in front of you, diving into the sea at sunset. It’s an awesome challenging experience you can take on!
Registered with UCI member-card and not registered are both admitted. Download the MEDICAL CERTIFICATE, from here >> download it here ,then simply email it to us and we will register it for you. If you do not have a British Cycling Licence (Bronze minimum) let us know as you will require a day licence in Italy.
You can participate in two ways: SOLO or in TEAM relay.
In the individual mode each participant completes the route alone. In the relay, you must form a team of 3 people, with at least one woman and the support of a car. The car will be driven in turn by one of three riders of the relay so that each of the members will ride 2/3 of the route (i.e. 180Kms as a whole), though not necessarily consecutive. The driver must assist the teammates and be available in case of requests from or need of other participants. The whole team must present itself at the start and at the finish line with all the three members.
Chase The Sun Italia is organised in accordance with international rules. In Italy, England, Ireland and Scotland, you start with the first light of dawn and you must arrive by sunset. There is no ranking, there are no medals. Only a finishers’ gift and the enormous satisfaction of being part of the SunChaser community.
We will give you advice and tips on how to approach the challenge but it’s with the other cyclists you meet and the special moments you live and share that will create the memory of the Chase the Sun unforgettable experience. Your behaviour on the road and in the Chase the Sun community will be part of your experience.

Extra Feed Stations offered by us
After successfully offering extra feed locations in 2024 , we are doing it again , full details are below because of different speeds of riders we are currently limiting it to 10 spaces at the moment and the timetable below. We will txt riders with a pin drop when we arrive at the points below.
The service is bookable at a cost of £52.50 , we will be carrying a good selection off food and any small bag with jackets, gloves etc that you may need.

The Weekends Plan

Thursday – Arrive unpack – Bed and breakfast only
Friday – relaxing day and ride locally where you want to – Half Board
Saturday – event day – Half board
Sunday – Breakfast – return Home

Arrival In Italy
- Fly in Bologna – The Italian Organisers will be there to greet you and organise transfer to your hotel – Bologna Airport , meeting 13:30 , leaving 14:00
- For those departing from MILAN – under their own steam. There is an additional charge of £100 which includes the ticket for the fast train (rigid or semi-rigid bag is required for travelling on the train) direct from Milan to Rimini, where you will be picked up by a private transfer and take you to your your hotel.
- For those departing from ROME – under their own steam. There is a surcharge of £50 which includes the ticket for the fast train (rigid or semi-rigid bag is required for travelling on the train) direct from Rome to Bologna Centrale and the Marconi Express ticket, which will take you to the airport to take the coach (Bologna)
If I was travelling I would fly into Bologna , less hassle , no getting on a train or a transfer , and save £100.
Return back to the UK
Option 1 – Return to Milan Airport on Sunday , leave 10am from Tirrenia Bus station – 5 mins from the hotel and travel back to fly back from Milan
Option 2 You will use option 1 above and the coach will stop at Pisa Airport first – circa 11am
Again if I was travelling back I would take option 2 and be dropped off at Pisa to fly home
So conclude – I would say the best option is to fly into Bologna and fly out of Pisa
Medical Certificate
You will require a medical certificate to ride this event , you can book an appointment with your doctor and wait ages and then to be told he won’t do it or it will cost a small fortune or you could get one within circa 48 hours from our online partner doctor.

Don’t know where to leave you empty bike box? Leave it at your hotel desk (valid only for locations into Milan city), our Staff will pick up and bring it back to you on Sunday in Rogoredo carpark. This service is optional and costs £50.00.
